Every month, the McCook Philanthropy Council recognizes a volunteer working to make McCook a better place to call home for everyone. The recognition comes with a cerficates and Chamber bucks.
The Volunteer of the Month award also highlights the organizations working day-in, day-out in McCook and Red Willow County to make the lives of residents and visitors better.

This week: While many people shun from being involved in politics, each of us has a duty and responsibility to be involved in the civics of our community.
We need to be part of the election process; we need to know when the city council is working on a budget; we need to volunteer to clean up our neighborhoods...because we are part of a community.
Ultimately, we each have a civic duty to be involved in shaping the future of our hometowns.
The 2026 Southwest Nebraska Big Give is Thursday, Nov. 5. Organizations may sign up to participate during the month of June. Community Chest - a sub-account of MCFF - organizes the Big Give each year.
