Cruisin' the Bricks is a homegrown Car Show and Cruise Night that began in 2017. The annual event is held on the 4th Saturday of June in McCook at the intersection in front of Wagner Ford Toyota and draws in car, truck and motorcycle lovers from all over Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and beyond. The day is filled with the Car Show, games, giveaways, and fun for everyone! The Cruise Night is enjoyed by participants and patrons as B Street and Norris are filled by all enjoying the views of the cruise route through McCook. 

Volunteer Opportunities:

This event grows each year, so does the need for volunteers to help during the week before and day of the event. No car knowledge required. Just willingness to help support a fun, community event!

Community Chest of McCook exists to raise money for 10 local non-profit agencies that provide services to people of all ages and walks of life. Assistance for people in our community include low-income food assistance, protection from physical abuse, shelter after economic hardship, education, fitness and recreation. Community Chest of McCook also sponsors the annual Big Give McCook fundraiser.

McCook Community Kitchen is a licensed kitchen and event space. We strive to bring the community together through classes, food events, cultural celebrations, and nutrition education in collaboration with community partners. In addition, we provide a licensed kitchen for licensed cooks and chefs so they can prepare food items for sale, experiment with new recipes and develop concepts for new menus or businesses.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We can use volunteers to help us prepare food for events and classes and help with clean up as needed. The great thing about volunteering is you usually get to work alongside a seasoned chef and learn tips and tricks!

The McCook Pantry serves the food insecure from McCook and Southwest Nebraska, who meet the USDA income guidelines. 

The Pantry is open to serve the public, Monday-Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteer Opportunities:

work a shift with a variety of possibilities (can be one day a month, a day each week, or just as fill-in), picking up orders or assisting with unloading the trucks from the Food Bank for the Heartland.

It is our aim to give boys in preschool through 6th grade a fun, safe space to play baseball against each other every summer. We also hope that this activity teaches leadership, teamwork, problem solving and builds a sense of community among all of those involved.

Optimist Clubs are dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" and do their part through community service programs. Optimists internationally conduct 65,000 community service projects each year, spending $78 million in their communities. Annually, six million kids are positively affected by Optimist programs.
