Q. What is the best thing about living in your community?

A. I am so fortunate to have a community near our farm business that has great physical assets, a rich history, and enjoyable culture. Living in McCook has allowed me to engage with other ambitious citizens with skills in leadership, vision, work ethic, and a love of their hometown and fellow community members.

Q.  What would you tell someone who is thinking about returning to McCook/SW NE?

A. McCook offers an excellent living opportunity for families wanting a smaller town experience with a progressive community attitude. We have a large selection of services and experiences that will satisfy many of your needs in a less hectic and pressured environment.

Q. What excites you when you think about the future of your community?

A. McCook’s central high plains location positions it well to serve agriculture, transportation, manufacturing and distribution industries. The jobs that will be offered should assure that McCook will remain an economically viable community supporting our people and culture. It is truly up to us to decide how we want our people and culture to evolve.

Q. How would you describe your experience serving on your local affiliated fund?

It has been personally very rewarding to help expand the idea of community philanthropy as a powerful tool for community development.  The steady growth of our fund has me thinking we are on the right track as we develop some very special and impactful projects with community partners.

Q. What do you hope happens because of building MCFF’s unrestricted endowment?

A. By building a larger unrestricted endowment, we can address several community needs at once and also have the capacity to make impactful investments when the great ideas and opportunities present themselves
