Q.  What is the best thing about living in your community?

A. The people!  It's one of the Best kept secrets in our State!

Q. Did you always plan to live/return to McCook?

A.  I have lived in McCook/Southwest Nebraska all of my life.  I had sisters that moved away and when I visited them, I saw their lifestyle.  Big city Traffic etc.  I enjoy the openness and the freedom we have here.

Q. Through your time, what changes have you seen benefit McCook/SW NE?

A.  Valmont, Parker, Work Ethic Camp, Community Hospital Update, Walmart, Super 2 Highway!

Q. What would you tell someone who is thinking about returning to McCook/SW NE?

A.  The day we finally got Sales Tax passed as we would not have the money for added growth to our community.  After the EDC made several attempts costing lots of money, a group of 5 got together and Mayor Flora got the information from Grand Island for the wording.  KEY was a Sunset Clause.

Q.  What drew you to be part of MCFF?

A.  To keep money earned in Southwest Nebraska in our area.  I see families move away to be with their children in Lincoln or Omaha etc.  They take their wealth with them and when they pass on, it stays in that area or out of State.  We need to keep our wealth here that was made here!

Q. What excites you when you think about the future of your community?

A.  New leadership--the news of returning entrepreneurs that want to make McCook Grow.

Q.  What do you hope to accomplish as part of MCFF?

A.  Helping our region grow and keep our wealth here, encouraging youth to return, and keep our amenities alive and strong.
