October Volunteer of the Month Brings Steadiness and Stability

Consistency is one of the words to describe the October 2026 McCook Volunteer of the Month, so important when it comes to working with young people in our community.

Autumn Miller was selected as the volunteer of the month for October 2026 for a wide range of reasons, with one being the regular, steady visits with her mentee in McCook TeamMates.

Miller has demonstrated a strong commitment to serving her community through a variety of volunteer and leadership roles. She has been a mentor with TeamMates for the past eight years, has served on the board for five years, and is beginning her third year as president.

TeamMates provides students with positive adult role models and encouragement, helping build confidence, relationships, and a stronger sense of community.

She also volunteers with the McCook Humane Society, where she has helped walk dogs and now serves on the board, helping provide care and support for animals in need and promoting responsible pet ownership.

In addition, she has volunteered with E-Free’s children’s ministry for the past four years, helping with Sunday school as well as the youth group. She has also previously helped organize and host blood drives at the gym, further demonstrating her dedication to supporting and giving back to her community.

Through each of these organizations, she gives her time and leadership to strengthen the community and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

The McCook Philanthropy Council selects the monthly recipient for the McCook Volunteer of the Month award as part of the McCook Community Foundation Fund’s “McCook Volunteers” program.

In April 2027, the first Strunk Service Celebration will take place in McCook to recognize the previous 12 Volunteers of the Month one more time, as well as award $1,000 to each organization represented by those volunteers.

If there is a volunteer in the community who should be recognized, please contact the McCook Chamber of Commerce at 308.340.3200 or visit McCook Volunteers on the MCFF website, mccookfoundation.org to complete a nomination form.

The only requirement is that the nominee must be a resident of McCook or Red Willow County making a difference in their community. Please have information about the nominee along with where and how they volunteer in the community.
