Norris Park Band Shell

Norris Park - McCook was well known for the Burlington Exposition Band under the direction of Harvey Sutton.  With that notoriety, the McCook Bandshell was erected in 1917, with a basement under it for public conveniences. It originally had leaded stained-glass windows, and the raised circle in the middle of the park had a metal Art Nouveau water fountain.  These fell victim to vandalism and scrap drives for WWI, but the band shell survives. The city renovated it in 2011 for concerts and programs in the park and continues to be used on a regular basis today.
