Missy Nelson Named April 2026 Volunteer of the Month
With a smile on her face, Missy Nelson can be found here and there and around the community, from picking up trash to leading future leaders.
Missy’s involvement in the community is why she was named the April 2026 Volunteer of the Month.
Missy is active on the Beautify McCook volunteer committee, helping water the flowering planters downtown and overseeing a weekend clean-up. She is a board member for Southwest Nebraska Leadership Institute, which held guide and shape McCook’s future leaders. Missy, along with her husband, Ron, are active at the 6th Floor Project/ArtBank with Missy serving as vice president and secretary.
The McCook Philanthropy Council selects the monthly recipient for the McCook Volunteer of the Month award as part of the McCook Community Foundation Fund’s “McCook Volunteers” program.

The only requirement is that the nominee must be a resident of McCook or Red Willow County. Please have information about the nominee along with where and how they volunteer in the community.
