Jeremy Shaw named April 2025 McCook Volunteer of the Month

April Volunteer of the Month Pivotal to McCook YMCA Success

The April 2025 McCook Volunteer of the Month can be found all over the McCook YMCA, literally everywhere because he’s involved in nearly every aspect of its current renovation and expansion project.

Jeremy Shaw was selected as the recipient of the McCook Volunteer of the Month for April, as selected by the McCook Philanthropy Council.

In his nomination, YMCA Executive Director Mitch Gross noted that Jeremy has graciously given his time and talent as a volunteer to serve the YMCAs mission of organizing human, financial, and material resources to encourage the spiritual, physical, mental, and leadership growth.

Specifically, in recent years, Shaw has served on the YMCA Capital Improvement Project Steering Committee, which has provided leadership to see the organization’s renovation and expansion project come to fruition.

“Shaw’s involvement in the project has been invaluable, logging countless hours and providing insight to help the Steering Committee make critical decisions,” Gross said about the multi-year project.

In addition to helping on the Project Steering Committee, Shaw has also served multiple terms on the YMCA’s Board of Directors and volunteered as a coach and referee for the YMCA youth soccer program.

“The YMCA is extremely grateful for volunteers like Jeremy who play a significant role in creating a culture that emphasizes community and togetherness,” Gross said.

If there is a volunteer in the community who should be recognized, please contact the McCook Chamber of Commerce at 308-345-3200 or visit McCook Volunteers on the McCook Community Foundation Fund’s website, mccookfoundation.org to complete a nomination form.

The only requirement is that the nominee must be a resident of McCook or Red Willow County but please have information about the nominee along with where and how they volunteer in the community. The volunteer honoree is selected monthly by the McCook Philanthropy Council.
