Joyce Anderson named June 2025 McCook Volunteer of the Month

Joyce Anderson of McCook can be found in her office as an accountant, keeping her client's finances running smoothly. But just as much time, if not more, is dedicated to various organizations in McCook, keeping them running smoothly too. Because of her involvement with the McCook Humane Society, the McCook Rotary Club and 4-H, the McCook Philanthropy Council is proud to announce Joyce Anderson as the July 2025 McCook Volunteer of the Month.

Joyce is instrumental in the growth of the McCook Humane Society, serving as the treasurer for numerous terms. Her passion for the organization and the animals is readily apparent through the countless hours she dedicates to making sure the facility for dogs and cats keeps functioning, day-in and day-out. She has also led the effort for the current capital campaign to replace and upgrade the dog kennels. With a matching grant from the McCook Community Foundation Fund, the McCook Humane Society is trying to raise $50,000, as part of an overall project.

Joyce is also key to the McCook Rotary Club's long-term success. Currently serving as co-treasurer for the club, Joyce has been a member of the service organization for decades, has served in every officer position, and is the person that Rotary members turn to with any question regarding Rotary.

And Joyce was a dedicated leader for Driftwood Feeders 4-H club for years, serving in a variety of roles as her children participated in the program.

Congratulations to Joyce Anderson for all her volunteer efforts in the community and for being named the June 2025 McCook Volunteer of the Month.

To kick off the new year, Jo Beebe has been selected as the January 2026 McCook Volunteer of the month. While many people might know Jo for her years at the Sports Shoppe, she can be found giving hours of her time to the community, especially at St. Patrick Church. Whether during the weekly Mass or for a funeral or wedding, Jo shares her beautiful voice from the choir loft, as well as leading the choir members. Jo, along with her husband Harold, also has served as the St. Pat’s GALA host couple in the past and continues to help with set-up and cleanup of the annual event. Jo is also active with the Fall Festival, the Rosary Rally and the Wild Game Feed in Curtis every year. She attends every the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults class and helps students prepare for confirmation. And since retiring from the Sports Shoppe, she is active in the Altar Society, and volunteers at the Bargain Bazaar thrift store. According to her nomination, “The way Jo gives of her time and talents to our parish and community is a reflection of her faith,” and the community and the church are better because of her generosity. The McCook Philanthropy Council selects the monthly recipient for the McCook Volunteer of the Month award as part of the McCook Community Foundation Fund’s McCook Volunteer program.
